here you have robots

During the last months, we have informed to you in El Portal del 3D y la Animación on the opening, the next year, of 'Robots', the new 3D animation film of Fox, produced by our friends of Blue Sky Studios.

The film starts with the birth, or rather the assembly, of Rodney Copperbottom, who will be the main character and hero of the film. Rodney will grow with new pieces and realize that he comes from a humble family, with a father who is a simple dish-washer (literally).

Rodney soon will discover that his passion is to invent, and thus will start off for the great Robotcity, an incredible megacity full of high technology.

Rodney, the anxious and creative main character of 'Robots'

This is the starting point of 'Robots'. If somebody thinks that the fact to come form organic, with hair, and soft characters to metallic Robots, hard and rigid, it will be one step back for Blue Sky Studios is mistaken. We have been able to watch a few of sequences of 'Robots', and we can assure that this maintains everything what it did of 'Ice Age' a great film and widely surpasses it as far as complexity and spectacularity, even with that retro 60's look.

The character, instead of being simple robots, are full of life and expresivity, playing with certain actual concepts like the updates, last new features in pieces... and defining much their personalities.

Among the characters we must emphasize Rodney, the main character, who is an anxious and creative robot. Also to the Oxidized, a group, or rather a band, of street robots inadapted to the system. Within that group we found to Fender, Rodney's best friend, a little untidy and very, very fun. Also, to mention a few more, to Crank, the paranoic, or to Diesel, the Harpo Marx of robots, a dumb robot who spokes by means of noises. To the other side, and like brilliant villain of the film, we found to Ratchet, an evildoer and brilliant executive arisen from the low bottoms of the city. As you can see, characters of all kinds. And we left many.

Picture of Robotcity, the big megacity of 'Robots'

In reference to the sequences of the film that we have been able to see, most of them still in production, we must emphasize the great work that is being made at level of character animation. All and each one of the personages overflow personality. Also we must emphasize the great Robotcity. The sequence in which Rodney arrives at this and... is simply spectacular.

We don't want to explain anything else. We only want to tell you that we expect a lot from this film, and what we have seen until now has impressed us very much. It will not disappoint to you. Chris Wedge and all the Blue Sky Studios team are making an amazing work.

We are sorry but we can show to you anything else on the film. It will be necessary to wait until October or November to see the first trailer, and surely to Christmas to continue seeing things, but the delay is worth it.

The opening of 'Robots' will be during the spring of the next year, surely for Easter, because the children will be on holidays, and we will be able to enjoy the DVD, with complete certainty, for the Christmas campaign. It will be the year of 'Robots'. You will see. Pixar, Disney and Dreamworks fear them.

You know ,as soon as more news arise we will let you know them.
